Ease of Doing Business: Mauritius Jumps to 13th Place
More good news for the Mauritian jurisdiction: in the World Bank’s Ease of Doing Business 2020 Report, Mauritius is ranked 13th worldwide, up from 20th in 2018, and retains its position as the easiest country to do business in Africa. This excellent position stems from the Government’s efforts to streamline and improve various of aspects of starting or running a business. The Doing Business report effectively states that Mauritius has made significant progress between 2018 and 2019 in dealing with construction permits, registering property, enforcing contracts and resolving insolvency. The report also highlights the efficiency gains obtained since online systems for tax filing and payment were adopted. The Doing Business 2020 report may be found here.
